QMAP Particles/Cosmology Seminar: Josh Foster

Description Speaker: Josh Foster (MIT)
Title: Searching for New Physics from the Sky with Current and Future Gamma Ray Telescopes
Room: 3024
Host: Shruti Paranjape
Abstract: Dark matter indirect detection represents a compelling avenue toward discovering new physics beyond the Standard Model, and with long-running observatories nearing end of operation while new missions are proposed, the time is ripe for sensitive analyses using mature datasets along with research towards understanding the discovery potential of future telescopes. In this talk, I will discuss two works on searches for dark matter with gamma-ray telescopes: a search for higgsino dark matter using 14 years of Fermidata, and model-building and projections for heavy ALPs that could be probed with AMEGO and e-ASTROGAM.
