Description | Title: Can DUNE detect solar neutrinos? Abstract: There is a long-standing tension between Delta m^2 measured from solar neutrino experiments SNO and Super-Kamiokande, and that measured from the KamLAND reactor experiment. While the reactor measurement is virtually free of matter effects, the solar results depends on them strongly. Could the DUNE Far Detector make an independent measurement using the CC nue interaction on argon? I will present the potential sensitivity, and also discuss questions about signal recognition, neutron transport, and other backgrounds. some of which are just now starting to be answered by simulations and dedicated small experiments at Los Alamos, such as ARTIE and ACED. |
