Title: Search for a Scalar Partner to the Top Quark with 139 fb^{-1} of \sqrt{s} =13 TeV ATLAS Data

Host: Robin Erbacher

Special Location: Room 185

Abstract:
The LHC experiments’ physics programs are in mature stages of analyzing the now-complete Run 2 data sets. Despite collecting over an order of magnitude more data since the discovery of a 125 GeV scalar boson in 2012, no significant deviations from the Standard Model have been observed. In this seminar I will motivate a search for a new supersymmetric partner to the top quark, the stop boson. I will present my contributions to the ATLAS t\bar{t}+E^T_{miss} search, touching upon benefits and limitations of the analysis. Furthermore, I will share exploratory ideas on improvements to top triggering, reconstruction, and tagging.
