Description | Joint Theory Seminar Speaker: Yun Jiang (UC Davis) Title: Exotic (dark) Higgs bosons beyond the Standard Model Host: Ennio Salvioni Room: 432 Abstract: The discovery of SM-like Higgs boson at the LHC clearly indicates that models with an extended Higgs sector will be significantly constrained by the data. However, it is still worthwhile and important to assess all possibilities for other Higgs-like states that may have escaped detection at Run 1. In the talk we will address an extreme case in which there is a pseudoscalar (A) light enough that the SM-like state (h) can decay into AA. In addition, with protection by an extra Z2 symmetry, non-SM Higgs boson could be a possible dark matter (DM) candidate. As an example, we consider the singlet extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model. It turns out that the value of tan beta is well-determined if the DM interaction with nucleons in the model violates isospin symmetry, leading to a large suppression on the DM-nucleon cross section in the low mass region. |
