Description | Speaker: Maury Goodman (ANL) Title: Results from MINOS and plans for NOvA Host: Bob Svoboda Room: 432 Abstract: MINOS is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment using the NuMI beam at Fermilab and a far detector at the Soudan mine in Minnesota. Results include measurement of parameters for muon to tau neutrino oscillations, a search for muon to electron neutrino oscillations, a search for sterile neutrinos, and a comparison of oscillations with neutrinos and antineutrinos. NOvA is a new off-axis detector being built along the same beamline up in Minnesota, but on the surface. There are also new near detectors being built at Fermilab. The design, capabilities and schedule will be presented. |
