Title: Effective Field Theory of Heavy WIMP Annihilation

Abstract: We systematically compute the annihilation rate for winos and higgsinos into the final state gamma + X. The radiative corrections to this process receive enhancement from the large Bloch-Nordsieck-Violating Sudakov logarithm, log(2 M_\chi/M_W). We resum the double logs and include single logs to fixed order using a formalism that combines nonrelativistic and soft-collinear effective field theories. For the wino case, we adapt an exclusion curve using results of the HESS experiment. At the thermal relic mass of 3 TeV, LL' corrections result in a ~30% reduction in rate relative to LL. Nonetheless, single logs do not save the wino, and it is still excluded by an order of magnitude. Experimental cuts produce an endpoint region which, our results show, significantly effects the higgsino rate at its thermal relic mass near 1 TeV and is deserving of further study.

Title: Theoretical frameworks for dark matter searches

Abstract: Given the plethora of complete models containing a viable dark matter candidate, a general and model-independent approach for the parametrization of dark matter interactions appears mandatory. Two possibilities have been devised: either the effective field theories (EFT), or, in light of the limited regime of validity of the formers, the simplified models, containing the minimal ingredients for the description of dark matter and its interactions. In the talk I will review advantages and limitations of the two approaches with respect to various experimental searches, with a particular emphasis on collider searches, for which a consistent method for the use of EFT is proposed.

Abstract: Bob will review of the events leading up to the seminal 1998 paper on neutrino oscilations from Super-Kamiokande for which Takaaki Kajita was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics (he and his wife Juilien are both on the paper!). He will also cover the work done by Art McDonald and others in solving the "Solar Neutrino Problem".

Abstract: In the light of the null results in searches for top partners at the 8 TeV LHC, there recently has been an increased interest in models with color neutral top partners. I will review some aspects of neutral naturalness, and discuss some opportunities for progress on the fronts of model building, collider searches and dark matter. Title: Shape dependence and RG flow of entanglement entropy

Abstract: I will describe the results of two recent papers on entanglement entropy (EE). In the first paper we study the shape dependence of EE. We start with rotational/translational symmetric entangling surfaces and slightly deform them, and we compute the resulting corrections to the EE. These symmetric surfaces extremize the universal EE. In the second paper we study EE on the d-sphere, when the entangling surface is a (d-2)-sphere. In this setup the modular Hamiltonian and EE can be computed analytically in terms of the VEV of the energy-momentum tensor. We discuss applications to RG flows and c and F-theorems in d dimensions.
