Kathleen Shannon (1935-1998 )

• born in1935, in Vancouver, British Columbia
• died of lung cancer on January 141998, in Kelowna, British Columbia
• joined the National Film Board (NFB) in 1956
• in 1974 she founded the influential Studio D at the NFB to make films for and about women
• there she directed "If You Love this Planet" and produced "I'll Find A Way," both of which won Oscars,
