Marshall McLuhan (1911 - 1980 )

• media theorist, author
• born July 21, 1911 in Edmonton, Alberta
• educated at the University of Manitoba and Cambridge University
• became Professor of English at the University of Toronto in 1946, and the director of the Centre for Culture and Technology there in 1963
• most famous for coining the phrases: "the medium is the message", and "the Global Village"
• works include:
