Robert Lepage (1957 - )
- born in Quebec in 1957
- studied at the Conservatiore d'Art Dramatique de Quebec
- since 1982 he has been working as a writer, actor, and director
- considered one of contemporary theatre's most talented directors
- his play Les Aiguilles et l'Opium (Needles and Opium) is a one-man show revolving around the lives of Miles Davis, Jean Cocteau, and himself
- Les Sept Branches de la Riviere Ota (The Seven Streams of the River Ota), a six-hour theatrical homage to Hiroshima, has been performed around the world
- other stage productions include: Vinci (1985), which won the Prix Coup de Pouce at the Avignon Festival, La Trilogie des Dragons (The Dragon Trilogy), Le Polygraphe (The Polygraph), Les Plaques tectoniques (Techtonic Plates), and Elseneur (Elsinor)
- Lepage is building a multi-million dollar theatre on the Quebec waterfront
- his first venture into film, Le Confessional, premiered at the opening night gala of the 1995 Toronto International Film Festival, it also opens the 1995 Singapore International Film Festival
- recipient of the Claude Jutra Award for direction of a first feature film
