• actress, director, screenwriter
• leading figure of the Canadian theater
• worked in avant-garde cabaret and Ontario's Stratford Shakespeare Festival
• began working in film in the late 1960s
• best known for having produced, written, directed and starred in A Winter Tan (1987)
• adapted from the letters of Maryse Holder, (published as a book: "Give Sorrow Words") the film tells the story of a middle-aged feminist who embarks on a hedonistic, alcohol-sodden sexual odyssey through Mexico
