Quantized Klein-Gordon Field in a Cavity of Variable Length

An effective Hamiltonian is found for the Klein-Gordon field enclosed in
a one-dimensional cavity with a moving wall. From this Hamiltonian the number of particles created
from the vacuum by the motion of the boundary is determined.
